9th – 12th June 2016

We arrived in Ubud around lunchtime to the most beautiful hotel – ‘Bliss Spa and Bungalows’. After our climb up Mt Batur earlier that morning our plans were to laze by the pool and do absolutely nothing… bar a spa treatment or two ๐Ÿ˜‰

We stayed down by the pool until around 4 when we all went down to the spa. Me, Mum, Alison and Janet all had an hour and a half aromatherapy massage and Daniel and Mitchell had an hours Balinese massage. The massage was just what we all needed as after the climb our whole body’s were aching! None of us could bothered to go out that evening so we stayed at the hotel to eat and actually had a really nice meal.

The next morning we went to the Monkey Forest and Pura Tirtha Empul Temple. The monkey forest was so much fun, they were so cute but so naughty! Some of them were jumping on people’s backs and opening their rucksacks and stealing things it was hillarious to watch. On the way out Mum got a bit left behind and her face walking past the monkeys is priceless ๐Ÿ˜‚ (picture below). The temple was really different to other temples we have seen but it was VERY touristy! After the temple we went back to the hotel and headed to the pool for the rest of the day! That evening we got a taxi into Ubud and found a little restaurant for dinner. Afterwards we got oreo and peanut butter ice creams – they were amazing ๐Ÿ˜

Saturday morning we got a taxi down to the market and spent the morning bartering! I’m not even joking we managed to knock the prices down so much. Daniel wanted to buy a bintang t-shirt and they asked for 300,000 rupiah (ยฃ15) we managed to knock them down to 40,000 (ยฃ2)!!! This was pretty much the case with everything we all brought! About lunchtime we headed back to the hotel as Me, mum, Alison, Janet and Mitchell had treatments booked in at the spa. The girls all had a facial which was amazing, it was so relaxing. Then we headed … back to the pool!!! That evening we had a walk down the road to find somewhere to eat. We originally ended up in a little mixed grill restaurant but as it was so crowded and hot Mum and Daniel had a walk up the road to find somthing else. They came back and said the other place looked good and it was! It turned out to be one of the best meals we had. We all had a chicken peanut satay to start which was delicious and then for our mains we had a mix of different things. Some of us had burgers, some had fish and some noodles and all of it looked and smelt amazing. It was a lovely finish to Ubud.

Sunday morning we were up early ready for our taxi to pick us up at 7 and take us to Padangbai, where we would be catching our boat over to Gili Trawangan, otherwise known as paradise!
