2nd – 4th May 2016
Once we had returned the bikes on Monday evening we didn’t really do much as we were so tired (we didn’t even go out for dinner) and Daniel was really sunburnt so we called it a day and went to bed…. BORING
We were up early Tuesday morning as we had a list of things we wanted to do. We had breakfast at the hotel and then headed out and walked down to find the Japanese Bridge which was really pretty. We spent the next hour or so walking down by the river and through all the little back streets. Hoi An is so so beautiful and colourful – there are a lot of French style buildings with colourful lanterns and flowers everywhere, it is gorgeous.
Next we set out to find a Tailors. They are EVERYWHERE. We decided to walk down Le Loi Street and just pick a random one. We spotted one that had been recommended to us the previous day so ended up just going in – it’s called Ba-ri Tailor. They had so many designs and materials it took me ages to decide. I finally settled for a playsuit and got measured up. Whilst I was waiting for Daniel to be measured (he got a pair of shorts) I ended up choosing another material for a pair of shorts… whoops. They told us to go back that evening at 5 to try it all on – quick turn around ey? We walked back to the hostel and spent the afternoon round by the pool. We had been moving at such a fast pace over the past few weeks it was nice to finally have some time to chill out and relax.
We were back at the tailors for 5 to try on our stuff and it fitted perfectly! Daniel then decided he wanted a shirt made so he picked the material and was told to come back in the morning to collect it. As we were walking down to the night market it started pouring with rain so we ran into a restaurant along the river to get dinner. It was the worst meal I have had so far since I have been away and also the most expensive! Once the rain had died down we had a walk through the night market but I personally didn’t think it was anything special although we did get a massive sugared donught which made up for it ;).
Wednesday we were getting the sleeper train down to Nha Trang but we weren’t being picked up from our hostel until 9pm so we had the whole day in Hoi An. We went to collect our clothes from the tailors first thing and then checked out of our room. The hostel said that they had a shower room that we could use whenever we liked so we hired some bikes and cycled down to An Bang beach for the day.
We got back to the hostel around 4ish, showered and changed and went out for dinner. We found the most amazing little restaurant down by the night market, I can’t remember what it’s called but it was soooo cheap and the food was incredible. I had marinated pork, rice and vegetables in a black bean sauce for about £1.50. After dinner we walked back to the hostel ready for our bus to pick us up at 9. It got to about 9.15 and no one had turned up so I asked at reception and I’m not really sure what happened but they must have forgot to call the bus or somthing because they ended up calling us a private taxi to take us to the station. We got on our sleeper train around 11pm and set off for Nha Trang!
